For me, the most comforting thing is that the team management thinks I am comfortable in any position I am assigned. They trust me so much and if they give me responsibility of batting in a particular position I also respond positively to it.
As an individual, you take Covid-19 situation aside, you would want your family to travel with you, but because of this situation, safety is important, safety of your wife, family and daughter, obviously safety of your teammates is really important.
Personally, everyone dreams to be part of World Cup squad. Mine was also the same.
I always believed in getting better and better in each and every format and give my best. As a batsman, it is important to keep learning every time and stay hungry for your runs. I don't get satisfied.
Outside cricket, I idolise Roger Federer and in the gentleman's game, I look up to Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. Not only were they great players, but the way they conducted themselves off the field evoked respect.
You have to think for your team-mates and give them positive response. Whatever happens as a captain you have to take the responsibility. Backing my team-mates and supporting them was the biggest learning.
It always helps a team when the opener is able to bat till the 20th over. I am learning to do so.
For a batsman, the bat is your main weapon and you need to respect it. The more you respect it, the better it helps with your cricket.
Once you play County cricket, you get strong in the mind and get used to different methods... If it's swinging or seaming in overcast conditions, it's all about how positive you are mentally and if your body movement is in the right direction... You can then always bat better.
As long as I value what I have and respect my cricket, I know I am on the right path.
It's always important to respect your opponent.
